Kindergarten

It's that time of year. Everyone is in a panic to get their child into kindergarten. In Savannah, I thought I had it all planned, but moving to Montgomery changed all that for me. The move also forced me to consider other options like public school. Both Jonathan and I had attended Catholic school for 12 years and it was just something we assumed our children would do as well.

So here we are now, with a plethora of options. I took a tour of one of the magnet schools today and I liked it. I've heard great things about it and it would be a convenient option. The problem with it is that they get alot of applicants and if you pass the interview you go into a lottery (plus I think they try and keep an equal ratio of boy/girl and I think there were more boys born the year Matthew was). The other school that I'm considering is a Catholic school...still need to take a tour, but Matthew's teacher has a son there and she it very happy.

I've decided not to stress. Honestly I'll probably be more stressed if he gets in everywhere that we apply because then I'll have to make a decision and I tend to over analyze things. Jonathan and I are trying to adopt a new philosophy of "Go with the Flow". It's working for us so far, it's still hard at times but change always is. But I also believe that change is good, hmmm, that's got me things about something now...

As Daniel says, the years it really matters start in middle school. Grant is in public school this year and we notice that he learns more on his own and from us. I don't think it matters what school he goes to.
